Sony Music Publishing UK<\/strong> has signed songwriter and producer Bastian Langebaek<\/strong> to a global publishing deal, in partnership with joint-venture company Second Songs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The agreement, announced on Wednesday (April 1), covers future works by the Copenhagen-based writer, who is known for his long-running creative partnership with Grammy-winning artist Olivia Dean<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Langebaek co-wrote six<\/strong> tracks on Dean’s second album, The Art of Loving<\/em>, which reached No. 1<\/strong> on the UK Albums Chart following its release in 2025<\/strong>. Those credits include Let Alone The One You Love<\/em> and Baby Steps<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Art of Loving<\/em> has earned Langebaek an Ivor Novello<\/strong> nomination in the Best Album category at the 2026<\/strong> ceremony, alongside co-writers Dean and Max Wolfgang<\/strong>. Dean won the Grammy Award<\/strong> for Best New Artist in February 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the announcement, Langebaek has worked with Dean since her debut single, Reason to Stay<\/em>, which was self-released in 2018<\/strong>. His other credits on her catalog include Dive<\/em> and The Hardest Part<\/em> featuring Leon Bridges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Beyond his work with Dean, Langebaek has written across a range of genres, with credits on tracks by Anderson .Paak<\/strong>, AURORA<\/strong>, Jessie Ware<\/strong>, Jess Glynne<\/strong>, Nilufer Yanya<\/strong> and Anna of the North<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n

Langebaek was previously signed to Universal Music Publishing Group<\/strong>, where he first worked with Mark Gale<\/strong>. Gale and fellow A&R executive Caroline Elleray<\/strong> left UMPG in 2021<\/strong> and launched Second Songs as a joint venture with Sony Music Publishing UK<\/a> in January 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During their time at UMPG<\/strong>, Elleray and Gale were responsible for signing writers and artists including Coldplay<\/strong>, The xx<\/strong>, Mumford & Sons<\/strong>, Rex Orange County<\/strong>, Little Simz<\/strong> and Bastille<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Elleray is a previous recipient of MBW’s Sir George Martin Award<\/strong>, which recognizes excellence in UK A&R.<\/p>\n

The signing adds to a notable period for the writers behind Dean’s commercial breakthrough. In January 2026<\/strong>, Zach Nahome<\/strong> \u2014 the executive producer of The Art of Loving<\/em>, who produced or co-wrote the majority of the album’s tracks \u2014 signed a global publishing deal with UMPG and NWS Music Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n
