Canada<\/h6>\n<p>The world&#8217;s largest recorded music region increased revenues by <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>3.5% YoY<\/strong><\/span> in 2025, held a <strong>38.7%<\/strong> share of global revenues, and added more than <strong>USD $400 million<\/strong> to global revenues.<\/p>\n<p>The United States, the world&#8217;s single largest recorded music market, posted growth of <strong>3.3% YoY<\/strong> according to IFPI&#8217;s figures \u2014 slightly higher than the RIAA&#8217;s estimate of <strong>3.1%<\/strong> <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/us-paid-music-streaming-subscriptions-hit-106-5m-in-2025-adding-6-5m-accounts-yoy-the-strongest-growth-since-2022\/\">published earlier this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Canada, which dropped down one ranking to become the <strong>ninth-largest<\/strong> market in 2025, saw revenue growth of <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">5.6%<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\">YoY<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6>Europe<\/h6>\n<p>Europe maintained its position as the second-largest region and grew revenues by<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> <strong>5.6% YoY<\/strong><\/span> in 2025. The region added the second-highest revenue growth of all regions, contributing more than <strong>USD $500 million<\/strong>, and accounted for <strong>30.4%<\/strong> of global revenues.<\/p>\n<p>The region&#8217;s three largest markets all generated revenue growth in 2025: the UK (<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>+4.8% YoY<\/strong><\/span>), Germany (<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>+1.7% YoY<\/strong><\/span>), and France (<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>+3.7% YoY<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6>Asia<\/h6>\n<p>Asia saw strong improvement in growth in 2025, with double-digit growth of <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>10.9% YoY. <\/strong><\/span>The region maintained its status as the largest for physical revenues and accounted for <strong>45.1%<\/strong> of global physical revenues in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The world&#8217;s second-largest recorded music market, <strong>Japan<\/strong>, returned to growth in 2025 (<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>+8.9% YoY<\/strong><\/span>),\u00a0while <strong>China<\/strong> overtook Germany to become the <strong>fourth-largest<\/strong> global market, with revenue growth of <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>20.1% YoY<\/strong><\/span> \u2014 the fastest-growing market in the Top 20.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6>Latin America<\/h6>\n<p>Latin America was the fastest-growing region in the world and continued its double-digit growth trajectory in 2025, generating growth of <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>17.1% YoY<\/strong><\/span>, which marked a <strong>16th consecutive year of growth<\/strong> for the region. Two Latin American markets now sit in the Global Top 10 (Brazil at No.8 and Mexico at No.10)<\/p>\n<p>Streaming remained the key driver of growth and accounted for <strong>88.1%<\/strong> of recorded music revenues in the region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brazil<\/strong> grew by <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>14.1% YoY<\/strong><\/span>, moving up a spot in the global rankings to No.<strong>8, <\/strong>while\u00a0<strong>Mexico<\/strong> increased its recorded music revenues by <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>13.3% YoY<\/strong><\/span> and climbed to become the world&#8217;s <strong>10th-largest<\/strong> recorded music market.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6>Australasia<\/h6>\n<p>In <strong>Australia, <\/strong>recorded music revenues increased<span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u00a0<strong>1.2% YoY<\/strong><\/span>, but the market dropped two places in the global rankings to No.<strong>13<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Zealand<\/strong>\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">recorded music revenues grew by<span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u00a0<strong>3.0% YoY<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and accounted for\u00a0<strong>15.2%<\/strong> of the region&#8217;s total\u00a0<\/span>revenues.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded music revenues in the wider <strong>Australasia<\/strong> region (Australia and New Zealand combined) reached <strong>USD $623 million<\/strong> and grew by <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>1.5% YoY<\/strong><\/span> in 2025.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6>Middle East and North Africa (MENA)<\/h6>\n<p>MENA was the joint second-fastest growing region (along with Sub-Saharan Africa) and saw recorded music revenues increase by <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>15.2% YoY<\/strong><\/span> in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The region remained dominated by streaming, with those revenues accounting for <strong>97.5%<\/strong> of total recorded music revenues in the MENA region.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6>Sub-Saharan Africa<\/h6>\n<p><strong>Sub-Saharan Africa,<\/strong> the\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">joint-second-fastest-growing region alongside the Middle East and North Africa, saw recorded music revenue growth of\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">15.2% YoY<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>reaching <strong>USD $120 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>South Africa<\/strong> remained the largest market in the region<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">, accounting for\u00a0<strong>78.1%<\/strong> of the region&#8217;s revenues, following <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>12.9% YoY<\/strong> <\/span>growth <\/span>in 2025.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>IFPI&#8217;s report also highlighted two key themes shaping the industry&#8217;s next chapter: <strong>AI innovation<\/strong> and <strong>streaming fraud<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On AI, IFPI says record companies are at the forefront of the next generation of AI innovation, actively engaging in the development of music licensing models to generate revenue opportunities for artists \u2014 aiming to build an ecosystem where AI and human artistry thrive together.<\/p>\n<p>On streaming fraud, IFPI warns that the industry faces an increasing threat from bad actors artificially generating plays for manipulated or fake content, siphoning vital revenues away from artists and others who power the music economy. They are partners that explore how technology can be harnessed to support and enhance creativity, not replace it. We are asking policymakers to support this work by upholding the copyright laws that are the bedrock for this progress.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The entire music community must take action to tackle the threats facing our industry. Streaming fraud is theft, plain and simple.
