The new structure sees Universal replace its traditional country-based leadership model in the Nordics with what it describes as &#8220;one unified, cross-Nordic setup&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><b>Joakim Johansson<\/b>, President Universal Music Nordic Region, will continue to lead the unified region, reporting to <b>Frank Briegmann<\/b>, Chairman &amp; and the &#8220;new model connects local teams into one regional network built on ownership, accountability, and innovation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Designed specifically for the region, the <strong>One Nordic <\/strong>model, according to Universal, &#8220;unlocks scale, agility, and cultural collaboration across the Nordic markets,&#8221; divisions: <b>Recorded Music, Live Entertainment, Artist Management and D2C<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Key leadership appointments of the new divisions\u00a0include the following:<\/p>\n<p><b>Recorded Music<\/b>\u00a0will be led by\u00a0<b>Bj\u00f8rn Rogstad<\/b>, Managing Director, Recorded Division. <b>Rogstad <\/b>will oversee a restructured set of labels throughout the region, alongside a &#8220;revamped Catalogue and International division,&#8221; all operating according to Universal, &#8220;under a shared Nordic vision&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Live\u00a0Entertainment,\u00a0<b>United Stage<\/b>, remains under\u00a0<b>Jimmi Riise,\u00a0<\/b>Managing Director, Live Division, which Universal says will &#8220;expand regional integration between artists and audiences&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><b>Artist Management\u00a0<\/b>&amp;\u00a0<b>D2C\u00a0<\/b>will be spearheaded by\u00a0<b>Casper Bengtson<\/b>, Managing Director, Artist Management &amp; D2C. Universal says that it is &#8220;building a next-generation Artist Management Collective and fan engagement engine in the region&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><b>Creative &amp; Commercial Services\u00a0<\/b>will be led by\u00a0<b>Jael Steinberg<\/b>, General Manager, Business Operations. According to Universal, &#8220;this newly combined vertical will be merging marketing division Amplify and commercial functions into one Nordic network&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><b>Finance\u00a0<\/b>will be consolidated under\u00a0<b>Erik Backman<\/b>\u00a0who will continue to serve as\u00a0<b>CFO<\/b> for the full Nordic region, &#8220;driving financial alignment and performance across all markets,&#8221; Universal said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><b>People, Inclusion &amp; Culture (PIC)\u00a0<\/b>will be led by\u00a0<b>Martha \u00c5hlund<\/b>, Senior Vice President PIC, who Universal said will &#8220;support all business verticals with an aligned Nordic people strategy rooted in trust, accountability, and growth&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Universal said that each division will &#8220;draw from a shared Nordic services platform, unlocking access to expertise, data, and capabilities across all markets&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #2\" data-params=\"dfp_spu2\" id=\"dfp_spu2\"><\/div>      <\/div>      <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Universal said on Tuesday (March 10) that its new operational model in the Nordic region will &#8220;help deepen the connections between artists and their audiences by offering career-spanning, full-spectrum support, from creation to performance to fan engagement&#8221;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;With One Nordic, we are changing how we build and run music entertainment across the Nordic region. This is about reflecting how artists actually create, how fans engage, and how the business needs to operate in our region today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Joakim Johansson<\/b><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Joakim Johansson<\/b>, added: \u201cI\u2019d like to congratulate my colleagues on their new roles as we take this next step together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;With One Nordic, we are changing how we build and run music entertainment across the Nordic region. arrives two years after Universal Music Group unveiled a restructuring of the company\u2019s labels in the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In March 2024, UMG\u2019s frontline West Coast label groups \u2013 Interscope Geffen A&amp;M, and Capitol Music Group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/interscope-geffen-am-and-capitol-music-group-are-now-officially-consolidated-under-the-interscope-capitol-labels-group-steve-berman-and-annie-lee-both-promoted-to-new-roles\/\">consolidated<\/a>\u00a0under the new name of\u00a0<b>Interscope Capitol Labels Group\u00a0(ICLG)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">That same month, UMG\u2019s East Coast-based labels, including Def Jam, Island, Mercury, and Republic were officially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/umgs-east-coast-labels-officially-restructured-under-corps-banner-def-jam-island-mercury-republic-will-operate-independently-while-sharing-integrated-departments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restructured<\/a> around a \u201ccentral operational hub\u201d called\u00a0<b>Republic Corps.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>Universal Music U<\/b><b>K<\/b><b>, <\/b>meanwhile, changed its company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-music-uk-restructures-merging-island-and-emi-labels-while-launching-new-audience-and-media-division\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">structure<\/a> in October 2024, which saw the merger of two renowned London-based frontline labels:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/companies\/universal-music-group\/island-records\/\">Island Records<\/a>\u00a0UK and EMI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Universal Music Group confirmed details of a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/universal-music-group-confirms-cost-saving-redesign-including-layoffs-that-will-save-270m-a-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">re-designing<\/a>\u201d of its organizational structure in February 2024, which it said will generate EUR \u20ac250 million (around USD $290M) in annual cost savings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">UMG\u2019s\u00a0<b>Boyd Muir\u00a0<\/b>confirmed\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.roic.ai\/quote\/UMGNF\/transcripts\/2025-year\/2-quarter\">last summer<\/a>\u00a0that UMG expected to be around two-thirds of the way through this two-phase plan by the end of calendar 2025.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p3\">Universal isn\u2019t the only major company to announce a new structure for its operations in Europe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In October, <b>Warner Music announced a significant change to its Central European operations.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/warner-merges-benelux-gsa-businesses-niels-walboomers-named-president-as-central-europe-bosses-doreen-schimk-fabian-drebes-exit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">combined<\/a> its recorded music businesses in\u00a0<b>Benelux<\/b>\u00a0(which includes the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg), including Spinnin\u2019 Records, with those in\u00a0<b>Germany, Switzerland,\u00a0<\/b>and<b>\u00a0Austria<\/b> (GSA) under the Warner Music Central Europe banner.\u00a0<b>Niels Walboomers<\/b>\u00a0was appointed\u00a0<b>President<\/b>\u00a0of the\u00a0<b>expanded<\/b>\u00a0WM Central Europe region across those six countries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Elsewhere at Warner Music, in the UK, the company\u2019s flagship\u00a0Atlantic\u00a0and\u00a0Warner Records\u00a0UK labels started\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/wmg-promises-more-firepower-for-british-artists-as-atlantic-and-warner-records-uk-labels-align-with-us-leadership\/\">working more closely
