Stat Of the Week is supported by\u00a0music data analytics firm\u00a0<a class=\"link-external\" href=\"https:\/\/chartmetric.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Chartmetric<\/a>.\n<hr \/>\n<p>Amid a slowdown in the growth of US recorded music revenues, Latin music remains a bright spot.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest mid-year report from the <strong>Recording Industry Association of America<\/strong> (<strong>RIAA<\/strong>), Latin music wholesale revenues hit <strong>$490.3 million<\/strong> in the first half of 2025, up <strong>5.9%<\/strong> year-over-year.<\/p>\n<p>That growth rate is more than six times as fast as overall wholesale revenues in the US, which grew <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>0.9% YoY<\/strong><\/span> to <strong>$5.59 billion<\/strong> in H1 2025, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/us-streaming-subscriptions-hit-105-3m-in-h1-2025-but-recorded-music-revenue-was-up-by-less-than-1-yoy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earlier report<\/a> from the RIAA.<\/p>\n<p>In all, <strong>98%<\/strong> of Latin music revenues came from streaming, with paid streaming accounting for <strong>$271.1 million<\/strong>, up <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>11.2% YoY<\/strong><\/span>. That compares to a growth rate of <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>6.3% YoY<\/strong><\/span> in paid subscription revenue for all genres in H1 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Free (ad-supported) streaming of Latin music brought in <strong>$174.1 million<\/strong>, up <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>0.6% YoY<\/strong><\/span>. With streaming offering more access than ever to legacy voices and next generation icons defining today&#8217;s culture, Latin has become the second-fastest growing genre in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;With streaming offering more access than ever to legacy voices and next generation icons defining today&#8217;s culture, Latin has become the second-fastest growing genre in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Matt Bass, RIAA<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In all, Latin music accounted for <strong>8.8%<\/strong> of wholesale music revenues in H1 2025, and it marked the twelfth straight year that the genre\u2019s revenues were up at mid-year, the RIAA said.<\/p>\n<p>Though it was only ever a small part of Latin music sales in the US, physical revenues dropped a sharp <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>24.9%<\/strong><\/span>, with sales of vinyl leading the slump. The volume of Latin vinyl sold fell <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>22.2% YoY<\/strong><\/span>, while the wholesale dollar value fell <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>10.6% YoY<\/strong><\/span> to <strong>$3.9 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #3\" data-params=\"dfp_spu3\" id=\"dfp_spu3\"><\/div>      <\/div>      \n<p>Revenue from synch rights also fell, down <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>2.7% YoY<\/strong><\/span> to <strong>$1.59 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The revenue numbers in the RIAA report aren\u2019t directly comparable to those of previous years because as of 2025, the RIAA is reporting wholesale, rather than retail, recorded music revenues. The organization says this change was made to align its figures with the global figures from the <strong>IFPI<\/strong>, and to \u201chighlight the real dollars that flow back into the creative ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RIAA says it plans to release wholesale data for the past 50 years, to make comparisons easier.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_242893\" class=\"wp-caption
