{"id":235854,"date":"2025-07-09T17:36:52","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T16:36:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/?p=235854"},"modified":"2025-07-09T17:36:52","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T16:36:52","slug":"hybe-reveals-finalists-for-santos-bravos-its-first-ever-latin-music-boy-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/hybe-reveals-finalists-for-santos-bravos-its-first-ever-latin-music-boy-group\/","title":{"rendered":"HYBE reveals finalists for SANTOS BRAVOS, its first-ever Latin music boy group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A key part of the strategy for HYBE\u2019s global expansion is to bring to the world the \u201cK-pop methodology\u201d that made global superstars out of such groups as BTS, Seventeen and Enhyphen.<\/p>\n<p>That method, developed by HYBE founder and Chairman <strong>Bang Si-Hyuk<\/strong>, involves winnowing down a field of contestants through a process of rigorous training and image-building, which these days is often filmed as part of a reality show that itself serves as a marketing vehicle to introduce the group members to the public and hype up the act ahead of its debut.<\/p>\n<p>Now, for the first time, HYBE is bringing the K-pop method to its Latin music division. As recently as last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/hybe-launches-tv-music-competition-and-boy-band-search-in-latin-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HYBE said<\/a> it had <strong>300<\/strong> applicants for the band. It\u2019s one of three projects HYBE is planning in the Latin American market.<\/p>\n<p>Starting this August, the 16 SANTOS BRAVOS finalists will take part in what HYBE calls a \u201ccreative boot camp designed to challenge and refine their musical, emotional, and performance abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The whole thing will be captured in an \u201cinteractive, digital-first experience, as well as in long-form episodes that offer an intimate window into the process,\u201d HYBE said. Access to the experience will be available through Weverse or through SANTOS BRAVOS\u2019 official <a href=\"https:\/\/experienciahybe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">landing page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>HYBE has made no secret of the fact it wants to change fan culture in US and Latin music, with CEO <strong>Jason Jaesang Lee<\/strong> telling listeners on an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/hybe-wants-to-change-fan-culture-in-us-latin-music-and-4-other-things-we-learned-on-the-companys-latest-earnings-call1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earnings call last year<\/a> the company wants to \u201crevitalize the enthusiastic fandom culture that sort of disappeared in the US after the 1990s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #2\" data-params=\"dfp_spu2\" id=\"dfp_spu2\"><\/div>      <\/div>      <\/span><\/p>\n<p>To that end, the South Korean entertainment giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/hybe-and-universal-music-group-signal-start-of-historic-joint-venture-with-global-search-for-new-pop-girl-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teamed up<\/a> with <strong>Universal Music Group<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Geffen Records<\/strong> in 2021 to launch a global girl group. In 2024, after more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/after-120000-submissions-hybe-and-geffen-unveil-20-artists-to-compete-for-a-spot-in-new-global-girl-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">120,000 applications<\/a> and a rigorous competition among 20 finalists, HYBE and Geffen debuted <strong>KATSEYE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now the hunt is on for HYBE\u2019s first global boy group, with the company\u2019s US division, <strong>HYBE America<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/hybes-bang-si-hyuk-scooter-braun-partner-with-ryan-tedder-to-launch-global-search-for-new-boy-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teaming up<\/a> with artist\/producer <strong>Ryan Tedder<\/strong> earlier this year to launch the search.<\/p>\n<p>And HYBE\u2019s plans don\u2019t end there.
