The event attracted key political figures from across West Africa, including<b> Madame Fran\u00e7oise Remarck<\/b>, Minister of Culture and Francophonie of the Republic of C\u00f4te D&#8217;ivoire<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Yoann Chapalain<\/b>, Co-Director, Warner Music Africa Francophone, said, \u201cIt\u2019s been powerful to see such a wide mix of artists join us here in Abidjan, with people flying in from all over Africa. Thank you to Alain, Temi, and Yoel for trusting our creative vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #1\" data-params=\"dfp_spu1\" id=\"dfp_spu1\"><\/div>      <\/div>      <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Warner Music also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/warner-chappell-music-uk-partners-with-k-pop-powerhouse-jyp-publishing-for-seoul-songwriting-camp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hosted a songwriting camp<\/a> in Seoul in 2019 via a partnership between <strong>Warner Chappell Music UK<\/strong> and Korean K-pop company <strong>JYP Publishing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The songwriting camp in Africa arrives about four months after Warner Music <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/warner-music-africa-francophone-launches-led-by-co-directors-marc-andre-niang-and-yoann-chapalain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> WM Africa Francophone, operating in France and French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa. WM AFR is a collaboration between Warner Music Africa, <b>Warner Music France<\/b>, and <strong>Africori<\/strong>, the distribution, music rights management, and artist development company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/warner-acquires-africa-based-music-distributor-africori1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">majority-acquired<\/a> by Warner in 2022. Warner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/warner-music-group-completes-full-acquisition-of-africa-based-music-distributor-africori\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took full ownership<\/a> of Africori last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Founded in 2009, Africori boasts what\u2019s claimed to be \u201cone of the biggest independent songbooks in Africa\u201d, including music from the likes of <b>Kelvin Momo, Master KG, Nkosazana Daughter, Oscar Mbo, <\/b>and<b> TitoM &amp; Yuppe<\/b>. The company represents more than <b>7,000<\/b> artists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">These developments come amid growing global interest in French-language music. Citing <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2024-09-30\/listeners-around-the-world-are-embracing-french-language-content-on-spotify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> from <b>Spotify<\/b>, Warner Music said over <b>83 million <\/b>hours of French-language tracks were streamed in more than <b>180<\/b> countries during 2024. Additionally, Spotify reported that more than 100 million users worldwide listened to at least one piece of French audio content between August 2023 and July 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">      <div class=\"mb-advert__incontent\">      <div class=\"mb-advert mb-advert__spu\" data-loaded=\"no\" data-name=\"300x250 Sponsor MPU #2\" data-params=\"dfp_spu2\" id=\"dfp_spu2\"><\/div>      <\/div>      <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Separate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/global-recorded-music-revenues-rose-10-2-to-28-6bn-in-2023-as-paid-subscriptions-to-music-streaming-services-exceed-500m-globally12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> from the <strong>IFPI<\/strong> showed that Sub-Saharan Africa was the fastest-growing recorded music region in 2023 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/global-recorded-music-revenues-reached-26-2bn-in-2022-up-9-yoy1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sub-Saharan Africa&#8217;s recorded music market saw a<b> 24.7%<\/b> revenue increase in 2023, driven primarily by a<b> 24.5% <\/b>surge in paid streaming. South Africa dominated the region, generating <b>77%<\/b> of total revenue with <b>19.9%<\/b> YoY growth.
